Photo Poses as Portrait Photography Tips

portrait poses

Knowing about portrait poses will improve your portrait photography. These portrait photography tips and trick will help you take natural looking photos. Just follow these tips on photo poses.

We all know that body language is important. You can tell a lot about someone by looking at their body language. You want to use body language in your photographs to communicate something about the personality of your subject.

Firstly, you need your subject to feel comfortable. Any discomfort will show up in the photograph. Talk to your subject about hobbies and interests. Find out about them. Make them laugh. Besides making them more comfortable, the information you find out may give you an idea about how to pose them in the picture.

Here are some portrait poses that will help you have better results in your photographs. Having your subject stand with feet hip width apart and square shoulders will portray strenght. Having your subject stand resting all their weight on one leg with the other leg slightly bent and forward or back will help add balance and depth to your portrait. Having your subjects shoulders on different planes gives the photo a casual look. Bent elbows make the subject look natural and relaxed.

Most people feel more comfortable being photographed while sitting down than while standing. Have your subject sit up stand, slouching in photographs can sometimes look exaggerated. Sitting up comfortably is best. You may want to try having them lean forward slightly. Let your subject stand or sit naturally. Don't be afraid to give some directions. Move around your subject to get the angles that make them look best. If you want more formal looking protrait poses, but you are having difficulty getting your subject to look comfortable, zoom in for a tighter picture. You can make the shot more formal looking by photographing from the shoulders up or even just the face.
